YBhg. Emeritus Professor Dato' Dr. Sheikh Omar Abdul Rahman
Emeritus Professor Dato’ Dr Sheikh Omar Abdul Rahman spent the last 44 years in teaching and research at Universiti Putra Malaysia (UPM). He received his formal education in the University of Queensland, Australia and the University of Saskatchewan, Canada. He was admitted to the membership of the Royal College of Veterinary Surgeons, London in 1977. He served UPM as a lecturer, associate professor and professor from 1974 to 2011. He was Dean of Faculty of Veterinary Medicine (1997-2001) and Director of Corporate Planning Division (2009-2011), and appointed Emeritus Professor in 2012. Dato’ Dr Sheikh Omar is a member of Majlis Professor Negara (Medical and Health Sciences Cluster), a Fellow of the Academy of Sciences Malaysia (FASc), Fellow of Malaysian Scientific Association (FMSAA), Fellow of Veterinary Association Malaysia (FVAM) and Founding President of the Malaysian College of Veterinary Specialist (MCVS).

Professor Dr. Abdul Rashid Mohamed Sharif

Professor Sr. Gs. Dr Abdul Rashid specializes in the fields of Geographical Information System (GIS) and remote sensing, with experience spanning four decades. His contributions to Geographical Information Systems in the domain of Agriculture have been incorporated in the CIGR (International Commission of Agricultural and Biosystems Engineering) Handbook of Agricultural Engineering Volume VI: Information Technology. Professor Rashid Mohamed Shariff was honored as a recipient of the esteemed Top Research Scientists Malaysia (TRSM) Awards in the year 2018. His research team won Gold Medal at the Geneva’s Inventors Competition. He has been acclaim as the best speaker at an international conference. Prof. Rashid, with his specialization in GIS, has played an instrumental role in expanding the application of this technology within the domains of Agriculture, Healthcare, and Environment through the implementation of his innovative spatial analysis techniques. Acting as a key figure, various national and international projects have been successfully pursued and led by him, notably contributing to the Space Applications for Environment (SAFE) initiative. His dedication to SAFE aligns with the support provided to the progress of the Asia-Pacific Regional Space Agency Forum (APRSAF), indicating his commitment to advancing the global application of GIS. Prof Rashid’s contribution can be discerned from his publication record. With approximately 200 articles authored or co-authored in reputable journals, conferences, workshops, invitational talks, and technical reports. These achievements helped Prof Rashid’s contribution of his expertise in the field of GIS and remote sensing to the academia, profession and society.
